Jay Goyal is the President of Goyal Industries, a metal manufacturing firm based in Mansfield, Ohio. Previously, Jay served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2007-2013 and as the majority whip from 2009-2011. During his time in the house, Jay was the primary co-sponsor for the renewal of Ohio's Third Frontier program and authored and passed legislation that allows public universities to take equity in startups. For his legislative efforts, in 2010 TIME Magazine named Jay one of the "Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in American Politics." Additionally, Jay spent a year as a Harvard Business School Leadership Fellow at a venture philanthropy fund, Draper Richards Kaplan, based in Menlo Park, California. Jay has also spent time at the General Motors Corporation, the National Cooperative Business Association, HealthTap - a digital health startup based in Palo Alto, California, and SineWave Ventures - a government focused venture capital fund based in Washington DC.Jay currently serves on the boards for JumpStart – a public/private non-profit focused on encouraging entrepreneurship in Northeast Ohio – and serves on their Investment Committee, the Richland Area Chamber of Commerce, the Mansfield YMCA, and the Innovation Ohio Education Fund.Jay has a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and an M.P.P. from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
