HS Boys Basketball - Shelby's Year Ends With Regional Loss To Shawnee

The Shelby Whippets and Lima Shawnee Indians played a great high school basketball game Thursday night at the Elida Fieldhouse in the boys Division II Regional Semi-Final. Shawnee came away with the 76-67 win to move into the Regional Final Saturday. Shelby trailed early 29-19, but got back into the game and trailed 42-36 at the half. The Whippets took the lead after 3 quarters, 58-57, and had a 63-57 lead early in the 4th quarter. However, Shawnee (24-1) went on a 14-0 run to grab the lead and came away with the win. TJ Pugh was unbelievable again with 32 points, Andre Hill played a great game with 16 points. Marshall Shepherd had 9 big rebounds, 4 points and played some good defense. Grant Hiatt was a big spark on the bench with 5 points. Shelby ends a great year (20-4) and reached the Regional Tournament for the first time in 22 years (1999). (Aired 3/11/21)
