Classes at Shelby High School were disrupted on Tuesday, after a lock down was put in place, due to what has been determined as a swatting incident.

RichlandSource.com reports, a swatting incident is defined as a false emergency call to emergency responders.

Shelby Superintendent, Michael Browning, said, the high school received a threat via a phone call saying a vehicle in the parking lot with someone possessing explosives.

A sweep of the campus and parking lots by Shelby Police and the Richland County Sheriff's Office, found no threats.

The district canceled preschool classes out of caution. Classes resumed with officers remaining on campus for the rest of the afternoon. The incident remains under investigation.
