Patrol Investigating Four Car Fatal Crash

Norwalk – The Norwalk Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a four-vehicle fatal crash that occurred March 9, at 1:28 p.m. The crash occurred on State Route 61 near milepost one in the Village of Plymouth, Huron County, Ohio.

The preliminary investigation showed that at the time of the crash, work was being done on the east side of State Route 61 that required a flagger present to control traffic. Due to this roadwork, a 2017 Ram 1500 pickup truck, operated by Michael Sexton, 55, Shiloh, was stopped in the northbound lane. A 2025 Toyota Rav 4, operated by Gurpreet Singh, 35, of Perrysburg was stopped directly behind the Ram pickup. The third vehicle, a 2024 Hyundai Tucson, operated by Ruth Pridemore, 81, of Willard was slowing down approaching the two stopped vehicles. The fourth vehicle, a 2018 Ford F150, operated by Brian Mock, 50, of Crestline, struck the Hyundai Tucson in the rear, causing that vehicle to strike the Toyota Rav 4 in the rear, which then struck the Ram 1500 in the rear.

Ruth Pridemore suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Michael Sexton, Gurpreet Singh, and Brian Mock all sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash but were not transported from the scene for medical care.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, The Huron County Coroner’s Office, Secor Funeral Home, Wilcox Garage, and Clark Brother’s Towing.

The incident remains under investigation
