The president of Butler village council, Eric "Rick" Thran, is now the acting mayor, following the resignation of mayor Wesley Dingus.
RichlandSource.com reports, Dingus, 48, submitted a handwritten letter for his resignation on Monday, effective immediately, and said, his departure from office was not under stress, but under duress.
Dingus is facing charges of misdemeanor voyeurism and felony assault.
Thran will serve out the remainder of the term through 2027 and said, he wants what's best for the village.
