A student at the Madison Middle School has been arrested and charged with inducing panic.

RichlandSource.com reports, the 13 year old boy was taken into custody after the principal received a school shooting threat, via e-mail, from an anonymous account, early Wednesday.

Madison Superintendent, Rob Peterson, said the district contacted the Sheriff’s office right away and placed the school on a soft lock down. The student has been recommended for expulsion.

Jim Sweat, Richland County Sheriff Captain, said the county is pursuing felony charges.
