On the above date around 1:50pm the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call in regards to a domestic dispute at 500 Chestnut Place Galion, Ohio (Polk Township). As Deputies were responding the 911 caller advised a single gunshot had been fired. Galion Police Department along with Galion Fire/EMS were then contacted to respond.
It was found, as a result of the dispute, that a 24-year-old male from the residence had been shot in the leg by his 33-year-old girl friend, also of 500 Chestnut Place. The male was transported from the scene to Galion Avita Hospital by Galion Fire/EMS and later flown to Ohio Health Mansfield where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The scene was held by Sheriff Deputies until a search warrant could be obtained. Once obtained, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation processed the scene for evidence. The female involved was taken into custody for an investigative hold, however has not been criminal charged.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. At the completion of the investigation, the incident will be reviewed by the Crawford County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of criminal charges, if applicable.
