Mansfield School Board of Education votes to close Tyger Digital Academy

The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education has voted to close the Tyger Digital Academy.

According to, the move takes effect immediately, following a 3-0 vote on Tuesday in a special meeting.The Tyger Digital Academy, which is the district’s online learning option, started during the COVID-19 pandemic and was projected to have less than 60 students for the 2024-25 school year.

The closure of the Tyger Digital Academy will save the district around $2 million. All of the staff will be reassigned to open positions within the district. Last year, the Mansfield City Schools had a $3.3 million operating deficit.
