The Mansfield School Board is moving closer to placing a combined, property and income tax levy on the November ballot.

RichlandSource.com reports, the board of education will vote next month to place a proposed 5 year, $7.8 million levy for new operating revenue.  If approved, residents of the Mansfield City Schools would pay a one percent earned income tax.

Chris Elswick, Mansfield School Board President, said, the money would help offset the district’s deficit spending without making drastic cuts.
