Child injured, flown to hospital after falling into Clear Fork Reservoir

An 11 year-old boy from Richland County was taken by life flight to a hospital in Columbus, after falling out of a pontoon boat at the Clear Fork Reservoir.

Mansfield Police, long with officials from the fire department, responded quickly after the boy was reaching for some candy and fell into the water about 50 yards off shore. He was entangled in the propeller of the boat and suffered severe lacerations to his legs. The police rescue boat, which has lights, was used to help free the boy, as dusk was setting in.

The latest update on Tuesday, after surgery, the boy is now in good condition. The accident happened on Sunday night around 8:45 p.m.
