Vehicle Theft Arrest, Gun & Felony Drug Cases after Mansfield PD Operation

On June 15th, 2024, The Mansfield Police Department’s Community Action Team conducted an operation focusing on areas of the city that have a high amount of criminal activity.

The goal of the operation was to saturate those areas with a visible law enforcement presence and apprehend criminal offenders to enhance public safety. The operation was made possible through the cooperation and collaborative efforts of numerus law enforcement agencies, to include: The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, Adult Parole Authority, The Ohio Investigative Unit, The Ohio State Highway Patrol Aviation and Vehicle Theft Units, Richland County Adult Probation, and Richland County Sherriff’s Office.

In total over 50 Law Enforcement Officers Participated who conducted over 100 combined vehicle stops, citizen contacts, and home visits. Highlights of the Operation were 5 gun related cases, 10 felony drug cases, and a vehicle theft arrest. The Mansfield Police Department will continue to be proactive and aggressive in reducing crime in the city.

The detail yielded the following statistics:

- 67 Car Stops

- 40 Field Interviews

- 11 APA house Checks

- 10 Felony Drug cases and numerous misdemeanor arrest

- Vehicle theft arrest

- 1 OVI

- 5 Gun related cases

- 3 shots fired reports
