Mansfield Man, 22, Arrested In Columbus For June, North Lake Park Homicides

A 22 year old Mansfield man was arrested on Wednesday, in Columbus, for the double-homicide that took place, near North Lake Park, in June of 2023.

According to RichlandSource.com, Ja’Vantae Jones was taken into custody by the US Marshals team on the southeast side of Columbus.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jones by Mansfield Police, back on December 14th, 2023, for the murders of two 18 year old males, both  from Mansfield, near the entrance of North Lake Park.

Mansfield Police Chief, Keith Porch, praised the work of his detectives and task force for all of their work and getting justice for the victims’ families.

On 01/10/24 at approximately 09:30 AM, the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) and the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST), arrested Javontae Jones, who was wanted on an Murder warrant. Mr. Jones is the suspect in the June 8, 2023 shooting death of Jonathan Ash and Nathan Carroll at 675 W. 4th St. Mansfield, Ohio. The suspect was located in an apartment in the 1500 block of Alumcrest Ln. in Columbus, Ohio and taken into custody without incident.
