The Mansfield School Board of Education will vote next month on a proposal, which would see the Brinkerhoff building close.

According to RichlandSource.com, Superintendent, Stan Jefferson, said, the redistricting plan would move the Spanish Immersion program into the Woodland Elementary building, starting in 2024-25. Students at Woodland, would then move into Springmill Elementary and Sherman Elementary.

Jefferson went on to say, there will not be a reduction in force and the move, would lead to more efficient use of district spaces, a reduction in heating and cooling costs, plus eliminating costly repairs for older buildings.

Declining enrollment saw the district recently close Prospect Elementary.
