In Shelby, plans are in the works to demolish the large commercial property downtown, which was damaged by fire in late August.

RichlandSource.com reports, the structure, located at 50 and 52 East Main, was considered a total loss after the fire in the early hours of August 31st. Shelby Fire Chief, Mike Thompson, said, quick work by the department saved most of a city block. The Richland County Land Bank recently had an engineer check out the site to design the specifications to demolish the building.
