Voters in Mansfield will see a ¼% income tax on the Nov 7th ballot for the Water Main Initiative.
The initiative is for Fire Safety, as right now, there are hundreds of addresses in Mansfield, which are not within a reasonable distance of a properly working fire hydrant.
Eric Miller, treasurer for the Mansfield Water Main Initiative, spoke with WMAN and you can listen to the interview here
The water main initiative would generate $17 to $18 million over 4 years. Mansfield engineer, Bob Bianchi, said it would take close to $80 million to replace all of the 4 inch water lines in Mansfield, which some are close to 100 years old.
The cost to someone making $40,000 dollars a year, would be $2 dollars per week or $100 a year.
