Press release from the Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District
The Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District (LPEVSD) will seek a levy renewal on the November 7 ballot. This renewal, originally passed in 2013, is a 10-year, 6-mill emergency operating levy that generates approximately $1.3 million annually, representing 8.65% of the district’s operating budget.
If the levy passes, no additional taxes are collected. “The passage of the renewal levy, which would go into effect in 2024, allows the district to maintain current operations and programming,” said Superintendent Jennifer Allerding. “These operating funds would also allow us to implement new initiatives in safety and security, mental health, arts and extra-curricular and academic programming.”
This renewal will not increase property taxes for Loudonville-Perrysville residents and will renew the original terms of the levy for 10 years. At the time of the passage in 2013, the levy was declared as an emergency which guarantees a consistent dollar amount generated regardless of district home values. As a result, if home values increase, the millage is reduced so that the levy continues to generate a consistent dollar amount.
“The district continues to pursue cost-saving measures like insurance, heating and transportation consortiums, maintaining or decreasing building budgets, and maintaining staffing levels based on student needs,” remarked Christine Angerer, LPEVSD Treasurer. “We remain stewards of taxpayer dollars and have done and will continue to do what is necessary for our students.”
