Mansfield Senior handed West Holmes their first conference loss in 3 years (Sept 11th, 2020) on Friday, as the TYgers beat the Knights, 38-28, in the Ohio Cardinal Conference opener at Arlin Field.
The game saw Senior High with 2 safeties on the night, along with a 71 yard kickoff returned for a TD by Amarr Davis, who broke the school catches record (of Angelo Grose) in helping his team get to 2-2 on the year. Duke Reese was incredible with his accuracy (8/12 for 116 yards), as he threw TD passes to 3 different receivers (Nate Dismuke, Jermain Bradley and Ja'ontay O'Bryant).
Symirr Phillips was unblockable on defense, as he recorded 3.5 sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss. Maurice Bradley II sealed the win with a 33 yard pick 6 in the 4th quarter. LaLa Owens, Carmelo Smith and Maurice Bradley each recorded sacks, which saw Senior High with 7 for the ballgame.
