Officials from Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services, along with Richland Newhope met with the County Commissioners on Tuesday to discuss buying the former Century Link Building on Lexington Avenue.

Joe Trolian, Executive Director of the Mental Health and Recovery Services, and Michelle Giess, Superintendent of Newhope, shared their idea to operate out of the building, which was built in 1969 and has been maintained, but not used since 2020.

RichlandSource.com reports,  Giess said, Newhope board members have been considering relocation due to safety concerns and consolidate three locations into one. The bigger building will also allow for expanded mental health services.

The Commissioners are expected to vote on the matter in September.
