A home on the south side of Mansfield is likely considered a total loss, following an early Tuesday morning fire.

Assistant Chief, Troy Reed, told WMAN news, the call came in around 4:40 am to a home on Bennington Drive. An 85 year old woman was able to make it out of the home, but several pets did parish in the fire.

The home suffered significant damage, as crews arrived to heavy fire at the front of the structure. One firefighter was injured, which was minor, and did not have to go to the hospital. The Mansfield Fire Department was on scene for roughly 4 hours. The cause of the fire is not yet known and under investigation.
