The Police Chief in the village of Bellville is stepping down next month.
According to RichlandSource.com, Ron Willey will retire on July 31st, after nearly 4 decades with the department.
Willey joined the village PD, as a part-time officer, back in 1985 and has been chief for over 20 years.
Former Bellville mayor, and now Richland County Commissioner, Darrell Banks, described Willey as have a caring attitude, while current mayor, Teri Brenkus, used one word, dedicated.
Willey said, the Bellville Police Department can get busy with being so close to I-71 and have been called for robberies or suspects fleeing on the interstate.
