62nd Season Of Racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course Begins Today

LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 23, 2023) - The 62nd season of racing at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course begins today with the start of the 41st annual Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio (June 23-25), formerly named the Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio. The event features a mix of vintage and contemporary racing from six dynamic series together known as SpeedTour, and it kicks off three consecutive weekends of racing at the Lexington, Ohio racing facility. 

Following the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio comes Ohio’s largest annual motorsports event, the 40th edition of The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2023 Accord Hybrid on Fourth of July weekend, June 30-July 2. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series caps off a three-weekend stretch with the second annual O’Reilly Auto Parts 150, July 7-8. Finally, Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Presented by Royal Enfield, one of the world’s largest annual motorcycle gatherings, closes out the spectator events at Mid-Ohio on July 21-23. 

The Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, the longest continuously-running spectator event at the track, will feature 24 races this weekend on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course. The extensive SpeedTour lineup encompasses 16 races of historic Sportscar Vintage Racing Association action providing car enthusiasts history in motion on track. Contemporary racing machines from the ground-pounding Trans Am Series muscle cars plus International GT and Prototype Sprint Series Association sports cars will also be showcased. Finally, open-wheel rising stars racing in the Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda and Formula 4 U.S. Championship Powered by Honda round out the diverse schedule.

An event that has become an Ohio Fourth of July staple, the NTT INDYCAR SERIES will make its 40th race start at Mid-Ohio, June 30-July 2, during The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2023 Accord Hybrid. Open-wheel racing’s next generation of stars from INDY NXT, USF Pro 2000 Presented by Cooper Tires and USF2000 Presented by Cooper Tires join the schedule. The Porsche Sprint Challenge North America by Yokohama caps off the on-track action featuring nine total races. 

Off track, the “Camping with Honda” tradition returns for campers to participate in throughout the race weekend. Campers are encouraged to decorate their sites in patriotic red, white and blue, and on Saturday, July 1, after the on-track activities conclude around 5:30 p.m. ET, Honda drivers from multiple INDYCAR teams will tour the campgrounds to meet fans and inspect the campsite decor. Also, Saturday at dusk will feature a fireworks display on site. 

The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series returns, July 7-8, for the final race in this opening three-weekend span set for 67 laps and covering 151 miles on the legendary road course in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 150. The ARCA Menards Series kicks off the two-day event with Zinsser SmartCoat 150 on Friday late afternoon, July 7th. 

Finally, the Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days Presented by Royal Enfield completes the action-packed summer on July 21-23. Motorcycle enthusiasts from far and wide will come together for the 28th time at Mid-Ohio for the preeminent and longest-running vintage motorcycle event in the country. Attendees will enjoy off-road and road racing, bike shows, AMA Hall of Fame exhibits, camping, Laps For History on the track and the nation’s largest motorcycle swap meet. 

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course offers an exceptional family value. Children 12 and under are admitted free to Mid-Ohio when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Free parking is available. A Weekend General Admission ticket offers the best fan value. For the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, Weekend General Admission is $60, and daily tickets are $35.
