Ashland University Women's Basketball Wins 3rd National Championship

The Ashland University Women's basketball team won the Division II National Championship on Saturday, as they defeated Minnesota Duluth, 78-67, in Dallas, Texas.

Ashland completed a perfect season (37-0) to capture their 3rd national championship.

Ashland led by 3 points after the 1st quarter and at halftime, by a score of 40-22, which was fueled by a big 2nd quarter, where the Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 26-11. Ashland led by 19 points at the end of the 3rd frame, 59-40.

AU was led in scoring by 4 players in double figures - Annie Roshak 18, Zoe Miller 16, Hallie Heidemann 11 and Hayley Smith with 10.

Eagles coach, Kari Pickens, becomes the first woman in NCAA Division II history to win a national championship, as a player (2013), assistant coach (2017) and now, head coach ( 2023.)
