The 44th News Journal All-Star Classic on Friday night at Lexington High School saw the North defeat the South by a score of 150-120. The 150 points tied the 1996 North team, which also scored 150 points, for the most ever scored by a team. Madison's Jayden Jeffries was named the game MVP with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Jeffries was one of 7 players on the north team that scored in double figures. Lexington' Baden Forup had 29 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
The South team was led in scoring by Grayson Steury of Ashland with 24 points, which all came on 3-pointers. Matthew Bland of Mount Gilead had 21 points and Lexington's Hudson Moore had 20 points. All of the proceeds from the game went to benefit Catalyst Life Services. A nice crowd was on hand for the ball game to put a close in the 2022-23 high school basketball season.
