Rare January Thunderstorm Knocks Part Of Steeple Off Mansfield Church

Last week’s, rare winter time thunderstorm in Richland County, saw wind gusts of 50+ miles per hour knocked the top portion of the steeple from the Park Avenue Baptist Church in Mansfield. RichlandSource.com reports, the church first opened in 1929. Jennifer Kime of Downtown Mansfield Inc, said, it’s possible the building could qualify for a state or federal grant because it is on the list of National Historic Places.
