Shelby Mayor Steve Schag Announces Re-Election Bid For 3rd Term

During his Mayor's Report at last Tuesday night's City Council meeting, Mayor Schag announced his bid for a third successive term as Mayor. Schag is now entering his ninth year as the leader of the city. His public service also includes participation on city commissions and nearly eight cumulative years on Shelby City Council. On January 1, 2015, as Councilman at Large, he succeeded Mayor Marilyn John when she became a Richland County Commissioner. Schag stated, "We truly enjoy a rare atmosphere of cooperation, collaboration, and camaraderie across-the-board in city undertakings and leadership. There is a true spirit of teamwork evident from our City Council meetings to day-to-day operations across our community. We have a positive momentum going for us that has been noted throughout the County. I have been truly blessed to be a part of so many notable achievements over my last two terms. It is my joy to work with so many dedicated people every day. Having recently retired from the Pastorate, I have a desire to continue to work for the citizens of Shelby as their public servant in the years ahead"
