The Springfield Township fire department responded to a call Tuesday morning at the El Campestre Restaurant on West 4th Street in Ontario. Firefighters arrived on scene just after 10 am, after employees reported smelling smoke and notified the fire department. Light smoke was coming from above the main entrance of the building, where firefighters located a small fire near the roof. The fire was extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Crews were on scene close to an hour and said the employees did a great job of notifying the department right away. The restaurant posted on social media they will be closed for today ( Jan 3rd) and plan to re-open on Wednesday.
