Mansfield City Council To Vote On Water Rate Increase

Mansfield City Council Tuesday is expected to vote on a possible water rate increase.

According to RichlandSource.com, the rise in rates would generate an additional $3.4 million to help pay for continuing to maintain Mansfield's water distribution system. The extra funds would be created by getting rid of the lowest usage tier and adding a readiness to serve charge.

Before 2021, Mansfield went 17 years without a rise in water rates. Mansfield Engineer Bob Bianchi said, the current rates to do not put them in a place to replace watermains.
