Voters Say No To Lucas Bond Issue For New School

The Lucas Bond Issue to build a new school failed for the 2nd time at the polls on Tuesday.

53 more votes were against the $30 million bond issue than for it, compared to more than 125 against, back in May.

Lucas Superintendent Brad Herman was asked if there was a plan to put it on the ballot for a 3rd time and he told RichlandSourced.com, that is yet to be determined and the school board will have to make that decision.

Lucas High School was built in 1918. The elementary was renovated in the early 1960’s and the middle school opened in the late 1970’s.
