Galion Police Investigate After Incident At Middle School

Galion Superintendent Jennifer Allerding has told WMAN, Galion Police have conducted an investigation, after it was reported to them that a Galion middle school student made a statement about a possible threat to the school, late last week. Galion school officials said, there was an increased police presence at the school on Monday.

Allerding in a letter to families said, "A formal and thorough investigation was conducted by Galion Police, including parental involvement. It was determined that there was no credible, imminent or future threat to students or staff."

Allerding said, Galion Police found a weapon over the weekend, but it was not on school grounds. Galion Police said the gun is in their possession and right now there is no reason to believe the incidents are related.

Allerding said, the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
