A 64 year old bridge in Shelby is going to be replaced next year.
According to RichlandSource.com, the Smiley Avenue Bridge, which was built in 1958, will see work start in the spring or summer of next year and be done around October.
The Commissioners giving engineer Adam Gove the ok to seek bids for the project estimated to cost just shy of $1 million ($988,100). Gove says the project will be covered by a grant from ODOT. Even though the bridge is inside of the city limits, state laws says, it is the county’s responsibility.
