International Suicide Prevention Speaker Coming To
Renaissance Theatre On September 24
33 Forever, Inc., the Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board and Renaissance Performing Arts will co-sponsor a regional suicide awareness and prevention event, An Evening with Kevin Hines, on September 24, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.
Kevin Hines is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, bestselling author as well as an award-winning global suicide prevention and mental health advocate. In 2000, at age 19, he attempted to take his own life by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. He is now one of only 36 people who have survived that 220-foot jump. Kevin's story is now the only evidence-based story of a suicide attempt survived.
Since that fateful day, Kevin has dedicated his life to spreading a message of hope and openly discussing mental health, oftentimes becoming a bridge between individuals who have attempted suicide and their parents, siblings, children, spouses, and friends, as well as suicide loss survivors. His story helped saved thousands of lives and is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder for all of us to love the life we have. Kevin comes to north central Ohio to share his inspirational story of survival, wellness, and hope.
Following Kevin’s presentation, a panel discussion and audience Q&A will be held with Kevin, his wife, Margaret, and regional mental health and suicide prevention advocates and professionals. Afterward, Kevin will sign and sell copies of his best-selling book, Cracked, Not Broken: Surviving and Thriving After A Suicide Attempt, with all proceeds going to 33 Forever.
In addition to 33 Forever, the Richland County Mental Health and Recovery Services Board and Renaissance Performing Arts, 33 other regional behavioral health providers and advocates have joined this event as Community Partners. The Mental Health Board’s Annual Meeting will be held that evening as well starting at 5:15 pm prior to Hines’ appearance by invitation only due to limited seating.
Tickets to this event are available at www.33forever.life. Reserved Seats are $5.00 and General Admission is free but advanced registration is requested to help for planning purposes. Free General Admission (walk-ins) will also be welcome at the door the night of the event. Free popcorn and free soft drinks will be served.
