A highly pathogenic Avian Influenza has been detected in two Ohio Counties.

The US Department of Agriculture says it was detected in a backyard flock in Ashland County, along with a commercial chicken flock in Defiance County.

The virus is highly contagious and spreads quickly, which can be fatal to flocks and devastating to poultry owners. No human cases have been detected in the US and state officials have quarantined the affected areas.
