A member of Lexington Village Council has resigned.

According to RichlandSource.com, Katie Getz is stepping down from her spot on council following what she called “unnecessary controversy” about her residency status. Getz said the issue came from a local resident who had a concern that she did live in the inside of the village limits. Getz said her family lived in the village when she was elected in 2021 and temporarily moved out, while their new home was being built in the village.

Council President Bob Jarvis and Mayor Brian White, both had high praise for Getz saying she did a great job. Council has 30 days to fill the open seat or it will be left up to Mayor Brian White to fill the vacancy.
