The Lexington Schools Board of Education this week pass a resolution that will allow someone to be a substitute teacher in the district without a bachelor’s degree.
According to RichlandSource.com, the requirements are the person must be 18 or older with a high school diploma, along with obtaining a substitute teaching license, pass a background check and be approved by the district.
Before the pandemic, all teachers in Ohio had to have a bachelor’s degree. The state of Ohio, due to a shortage in teachers, has waived the rule through the 2023-24 school year.
