Two Ashland County Men Killed In Sunday Night Crash On US 42

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash

Ashland – Troopers are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash on US 42 at the intersection of Baney Road in Ashland County.

On Sunday, August 21,2022 at approximately 2246 hours, a 2008 Chevrolet Impala was driving northeast US 42. A 2021 Polaris Ranger utility vehicle was south bound on Baney Road. The Polaris failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and was struck by the Chevrolet. The Polaris overturned, ejecting the two occupants.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Tremaine M. Lacy, age 29 of Mt. Vernon, Ohio was transported for non-life-threatening injuries to University Hospitals Samaritan in Ashland by the Ashland Fire Department. The two occupants of the Polaris, James J. Cline, age 23, of Nova and Logan M. Buzzard, age 22, of Ashland died from injuries sustained in the crash. Cline was pronounced deceased on scene and Buzzard was transported by the Ashland Fire Department to University Hospitals Samaritan in Ashland where he was pronounced deceased. Neither occupant of the Polaris was wearing a safety belt.

Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were: Ashland City Fire Department, the Ashland Police Department, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department, and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

Alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash and the crash is currently still under investigation.
