The Mansfield City Schools Board of Education has approved a contract with the city to bring back a school resource officer this year.
According to RichlandSource.com, the last time the district had a resource officer was the 2019-2020 school year. The reason for no officer that last two years is because of the pandemic and a shortage of community police officers.
Superintendent Stan Jefferson said, Safety is the first priority for our students. The cost to the district for a resource officer for the year is $56,000.
