The Richland County Dog Shelter is overcrowded, according to RichlandSource.com.

Dog Warden Miss Houghton says right now they have nearly 80 dogs, which is about twice the amount she feels comfortable with being able to manage.  Houghton said, if they are between 40 and 50 dogs it is easier to clean, walk the dogs and other daily routines.  There are several promotions planned in August to find the canines new homes.  The dog shelter has averaged between roughly 70 and 80 dogs for that last 4 to 5 months.
