Local business leaders and elected officials gathered outside of the Glessner Avenue Dairy Queen this week to celebrate the completion of the first phase of the West End Neighborhood Improvement Plan.

RichlandSource.com reports, the first phase price tag was $1 million, which saw upgrades to sidewalks and crosswalks, along with retaining walls and new street lights.

Adrian Ackerman, Mansfield’s community development and housing director, praised a local advisory group, who helped raise the funds.  Ackerman said the next step will be for engineering and architecture work for the rest of Glessner Ave, which will be done in 3 phases and cost roughly $4 million.
