The Mansfield Fire Department responded to 3 calls for firework related incidents, which the department said, was all due to carelessly discarding used fireworks.

One person was injured, but did not require transportation to the hospital.

The department said someone placed a used box of Fireworks by a dumpster on King Street, which caused a fire. Two other incidents, on Boughton Ave and Malone Road, the home owners had used fireworks and believed they were out, but later found a fire near the garage areas.

Captain Dan Crow said setting off consumer grade fireworks in Mansfield is a violation of the fire code and is punishable with a fine of $1,000. Crow said some items you purchase at the store are legal, but make sure you follow instructions to make sure they are extinguished.
