LISTEN: Mansfield Post Of Highway Patrol Talks Busy Roads For July 4th

A record number of Ohioans are expected to travel over the July 4th holiday, according to AAA.  Despite high gas prices 2.2 million Ohioans will be traveling over the next 3 days. It’s close to a 4% increase in Ohio and 3.7% nationally, where more than 47 million Americans are predicted to hit the road this weekend.

AAA says the worst time to travel on Friday is between 12 pm – 9 pm and on Saturday from 2 pm – 4 pm.

Last year in Ohio 23 people were killed on roadways over the July 4th holiday.

Sgt. Mike Smith of the Mansfield Post of the Highway Patrol reminds drivers to slow down, wear your seat belt, keep your eyes on the road, not your phone and if plan on having a drink, designate a driver.
