Mansfield Parks Levy Tax Increase Voted Down, Unsure About November Ballot

Mansfield’s 0.25 percent income tax levy was voted down at the polls Tuesday with 55% against the increase tax.

If passed, the levy would have collected just over $3.5 million per year over 4 years to help build a new pool in town.

Mark Abrams, Mansfield Parks Superintendent, told RichlandSource.com maybe it was the timing of asking for more money right now with gas above $4 a gallon and record high inflation. Abrams, right now, is not sure if the issue will go back on the November ballot. There will be no public pool open in Mansfield this summer because of the issues at Liberty Pool, which closed for good last summer.
