Mansfield Police are investigating a shooting incident that took place Wednesday morning in the 100 block of Stewart Ave.
Captain Shari Robertson released the following statement -
"We are currently investigating a shooting that happened a short time ago in the 100 block of Stewart Avenue. One victim was rushed to a local hospital for treatment and their current condition is unknown at this time. It is my understanding that almost immediately upon arriving at the scene in reference to a 911 call for help, officers heard gunfire coming from the location. Officers and Major Crimes Detectives are on scene and once we have a better understanding of what occurred, we will release more information. The scene is secure and safe at this time."
A Juvenile female was shot inside the home and transported to the hospital. No word on her condition. Detectives are interviewing witnesses and investigating the incident.
RichlandSource.com reports, this is the 2nd shooting involving a juvenile in Mansfield in the last 12 days. The other took place April 15th on King Street, where a 15 year old male died.
