The 89th running of the Mansfield Mehock Relays is set for Saturday.
25 teams from Ohio and Michigan will be taking part in the historic event, which started back in the 1920’s.
Shannon Sprang, director of the relays, said the history and legacy of the event makes it one of the premiere track and field events. Sprang is from the Loudonville area and is a licensed track official, said the pole vault competition is expected to be exciting. Events start at 10 am at Mehock Field off of Cook Road at Malabar. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for students.
The track at Malabar is one of only a few 10 lane- all weather tracks in Ohio, according to Sprang. This allows them to run the event more like a state meet.
