The Mansfield City School Board of Education voted this week to end the school year one week early.
According to RichlandSource.com, the reason to allow staff and teachers time to move their classrooms with the district reconfiguration plan, which will see Prospect Elementary close at the end of this school year.
The plan expected to save the district around $400,000 dollars and beginning next year will see Prospect merge with Woodland and 3rd grade students at Woodland, Prospect and Sherman will all be moved to Malabar beginning next school year.
Ending School one week early this year will not impact Graduation plans. Officials in the district closing Prospect after this year because of the condition and age of the facility.
