Ashland County Prosecutor Chief Investigator Retires After 36 Years

The Ashland County Prosecutor’s Office Chief Investigator has retired after more than 35 years in the role.

According to RichlandSource.com, Doug Smetzer retired last week after 36 years on the job, which included the Shawn Grate case among many others. Ashland County Prosecutor Chris Tunnell said what made Smetzer so valuable is that he cares.

Tony Shambaugh will now take over the Chief Investigator position. Shambaugh has been an investigator with the Ashland County Prosecutor’s Office since 2007.
