The Richland County Land Bank has approved just shy of $40,000 dollars for Phase II of the environmental testing at the former Westinghouse Property in Mansfield.

RichlandSource.com reports, the work will be done by a company out of Toledo, which will do soil samples and investigate groundwater wells as a part of the study.

The long term goal is to be able to demolish and cleanup the property. Richland County Land Bank Chair Bart Hamilton, who is also the county treasurer, said they have not yet heard back about state funding available to all 88 counties. Hamilton saying it’s going to be a slow process.
