A change this summer in an Ohio law would allow residents  to shoot off – what is known as consumer grade fireworks, according to RichlandSource.com.

The law changes goes into effect on July 1st, but that had Mansfield city council and a recent safety committee meeting discussing the topic last week. The law does allow local governments to restrict hours for firework use or ban the use all together. Dayton and University Heights in Cleveland have already banned firework use.

Police Chief Keith Porch recommended a ban. Council will discuss it further in the coming weeks, they also hear from Mansfield Fire Captain Dan Crow, who said fireworks are illegal now, but if nothing is done that will not be the case come July 1st.
