Highway Patrol Investigates Fatal Crash in Knox County

Knox County: The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at approximately 12:48 AM. The crash was on State Route 229 (Newcastle Road) near Woods Church Road, in Butler Township, Knox County.

Jacob Miller, age 37, of Walhonding, Ohio, was operating a red Jonsered farm tractor westbound on State Route 229. Mr. Miller struck a deer, drove off the right side of the road, struck a road sign, and overturned. Mr. Miller was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Mr. Miller was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol use is not suspected in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Danville Fire Department.
