IHEARTMEDIA ASHLAND/MANSFIELD LAUNCHES 3rd Annual iHeartRADIO for the Homeless Campaign
in partnership with Mechanics Bank benefiting 8 local charities across 2 counties
October 25th, 2021 (Mansfield, OH) – For the third year in a row iHeartMedia Ashland/Mansfield radio stations (WNCO-FM, WXXF-FM, WMAN-AM, WYHT-FM, WFXN-FM, WNCO-AM and WSWR-FM) in partnership with Mechanics Bank, have launched a campaign to help our community’s homeless population. From November 1st through the 19th listeners in Mid-Ohio will be able to donate much needed items at 17 donation drop-off sites throughout Richland and Ashland counties.
“In a normal year, the winter season brings the need for keeping area homeless warm with essential items. This year the need is again greater as there are many more homeless individuals and families due to the pandemic. During these very difficult times, we are using the power of our 7 radio stations and will be leaning on the good will our listeners have, to help us collect these items, said Chris Kelly, Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia, Ashland/Mansfield. “As with anything we do, we do as a community. We have had a great deal of support this year from people who want to help.
We could not do this without the support of our volunteers from Crossroads City Center, who wash, sort and help us distribute items to charities at the conclusion of the campaign. We also want to recognize Doug Ferrell from Buckeye Thrift, who has donated not only the barrels for collection but also the u-haul for distributing donations and of course his valuable time.
iHeartRADIO for the Homeless will be collecting new socks, scarves, earmuffs, blankets, hats, gloves, umbrellas and new/gently used sleeping bags and coats. This year’s campaign has once again partnered with a few Richland County schools, who are using this opportunity to teach and allow their students to give back to the community.
