Mansfield City Council this week unanimously approved the engineering and design work for the dry dam project.

City Council President David Falquette said the cost will be $1.6 million dollars and the work for the study will take about 2 years to complete. This would make the project what is called "shovel ready" to be able to pursue state and federal grants to help fund the project, which is aimed at reducing flooding in the north end of town.

The total estimated cost of the Dry Dam is between $16 and $18 million dollars.
